I graduated from Grand View with my special education degree in December of 2001.   I started my teaching career at Hiatt in 2002.  In 2005, I received my Masters of Education from Graceland University in Quality Teaching Strategies. I live in Pella, but I don’t mind the commute because it gives me some time to myself.    I have two daughters, that keep my husband and I very busy with all of their activities.  In my free time, I love spending time outdoors, going to sprint car races, and spending time with friends and family.

Between getting my bachelor’s degree and master’s degree, I worked at Monsanto. I enjoy taking my dog, Jasper, to the Ames Dog Park and Iowa Arboretum.

I graduated from Grand View with a Bachelors of Arts in History and Secondary Education in 2008. I graduated Morningside College with a Masters of Arts in special education with an emphasis in behavior disorders/learning disorders in 2012.

I began teaching in the Des Moines District in 2015 at Smouse Opportunity School in a self-contained behavior disorder classroom and then transferred to Hiatt Middle School for 2017-2018 school year.

I have had the honor and privilege in serving in the United States Army Reserves for the past 20 years. During this time, I deployed to Iraq (2003-2004), Qatar (2011-2012), and Honduras (2014).  .

I am married and have two daughters. In my free time I enjoy coaching my daughters in softball and soccer. I also enjoy exercising, exploring Iowa’s scenic byways, and watching football (Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes) in the fall.
