Biography

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Buena Vista University and my Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. My teaching experience before coming to Des Moines in 2001 was at Diagonal Community Schools and South O’Brien Community Schools. While in Des Moines I have been the teacher librarian at Morris Elementary School, Capital View Elementary School, and Roosevelt High School. I am looking forward to working with the staff and students at Hiatt Middle School as a Title Reading teacher and 7th grade support teacher. I am married and have three daughters, four grandchildren, three stepchildren, and two step grandchildren. Reading, walking, swimming, boating, and most water activities are things we enjoy.

Mishelle Johnson

7th Grade Global Studies & 6th Grade Geography

Biography

I teach 7th Grade Global studies at Hiatt Middle School.  I graduated from Simpson College in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree.  I taught middle school reading in Ventura, Iowa, for two years.  In 1990, I began teaching in the Des Moines Public School District.  I graduated from Drake University in 1996, with a Master’s Degree.

Renae Doyle

Biography

I graduated from Wartburg College in May 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in middle school math and science. I currently live in Des Moines wih my dog Yadi. In my spare time, you will usually find me watching sports, scrapbooking, spending time outside, or hanging out with friends and family.

Biography

My name is Sarah Amena Civgin, and this is my 3rd year at Amos Hiatt!  I am currently supporting 7th grade math. I graduated from Grand View University in 2012. I am married and have two big cats.

 

Sarah Cutwright

Biography

       I started my teaching career in 2001; in 2007 I took some time off to be home with my two young boys, although I continued private tutoring for middle and high school students.  During that time, I also did some work with young adults with Autism and intellectual disabilities.  My first year at Hiatt Middle School was 2015, and it's fantastic being back in the classroom.  I'm a lover of books of all kinds, but also enjoy camping, fishing, and biking.
